The knowledge of Ancient Chinese to agriculture allowed them to feed people easier. Which meant more people lived in smaller areas. The iron plow was a much more advanced tool than any other inventions. It could be adjusted to plow at different depths in the soil. The idea from the Ancient Chinese of planting crops in rows was very important as the iron plow, this way crops could grow quicker. Irrigation (watering of crops) is much easier if crops are in rows. The iron plow, which are pulled by a harnessed animals, was also an advantage if crops were planted in rows. The Ancient Chinese also invented other farming tools to make farming life much easier and more productive. The method winnowing is the separation of husks and stalks from the grains after being harvested. In the ancient times, they completed this method by simply throwing the mixture in the air, the wind would blow away the lighter chaff leaving the heavier grain falling down and being collected.
